How am I protected from my idea being stolen? |
A: |
We understand the concerns of writers to keep their ideas safe and pride ourselves in ensuring client confidentiality. All projects are handled in-house and our staff has years of experience in the entertainment community and recognize the importance of discretion. We encourage our clients to send their work to the United States Copyright Office (http://www.copyright.gov/) and/or register it with the Writer’s Guild of America (http://www.wga.org/) prior to submission with Prospector Pictures. |
|
Are you an agency? Will you help find me an agent? |
A: |
Prospector Pictures is not an agency, nor do we make it a policy of finding agents for our clients. Prospector Pictures is a production company that is interested in finding quality projects to produce for film, television and new media. We also offer Script Analysis and Script Coverage services to help writers prepare their projects for the demands of Hollywood. Exceptional scripts may be considered for Option with our company and through that process, some clients may receive representation with an agency. |
|
Does your company purchase scripts? What is an Option? |
A: |
Prospector Pictures does not purchase scripts outright. Projects that we are interested in producing will be offered an Option Agreement. An Option is an agreement for a set amount of time in which we have the right to develop, produce and/or “shop” the project to various other production companies and studios. With an Option, the writer retains all writing credits and all the rights that entails. |

What makes your Script Analysis service different from others? |
A: |
There are numerous companies that specialize in script analysis services and many are exceptional. We encourage our clients to shop around and determine the best service for your needs. In addition to our years of experience in various areas of the entertainment community, Prospector Pictures has extensive connections within the industry that allows us to acquire exceptional projects and get them in the hands of the people that can say “yes.” Also, as of this printing, we are the only company that offers a Specialist Service that allows clients to request a specialist within a specific genre to analyze their script. This service ensures the client they are getting feedback and suggestions from someone specialized in that genre. |
|
Can I get a refund if I don’t like the analysis or coverage I receive? |
A: |
Unfortunately, because of the nature of our services, we are unable to offer refunds. Script Analysis/Coverage is a subjective process and we can’t guarantee you will like the comments you receive about your script. We can guarantee that you will receive honest and unbiased feedback of your material from a professional with years of experience in the entertainment industry. |
|
What’s the difference between Script Coverage and Script Analysis? |
A: |
Whenever a script is submitted to a production company, agency, studio, etc., it is given to a reader who generates a report known as Coverage. Coverage consists of a logline, synopsis, general comments and an overall grade (Recommend, Consider or Pass). Coverage is a quick way for executives to determine if a project should be given further consideration. Though coverage offers the writer a glimpse into the overall quality of their script and possible ideas for improvement, it does not offer the comprehensive breakdown of the Script Analysis service. The Script Analysis service focuses on every aspect of the script including story, theme, plot, characters, etc. The Script Analysis service provides the writer with invaluable feedback and suggestions for improvement. |
|
Do I have to pay for coverage or analysis services to submit my script to you? |
A: |
Not at all. Unlike many companies, Prospector Pictures has adopted an open-door policy which allows writers to submit their material for consideration. However, projects submitted for consideration that do not use our services will not receive a copy of their coverage or feedback on their script other than a Consider or Pass. Please note that in order to submit a script for consideration, a Submission Release Form must be on file prior to sending. All submissions received that do not have a Submission Release Form on file will be returned unopened. |
